Style Scouting: Vol. 53 | In My Own Style

By Published August 1, 2021

Happy Sunday, friends! Can it truly be August 1st?

When I starting writing this post, I did a double take at the calendar thinking I read the date wrong!

Now that it is actually August, my mind is going into planning mode for the months ahead. Thoughts not only about how I want to decorate for seasonal changes, but live the best life I can, have all been going through my mind.

I also reminded myself that…

… “Life is too short to be the caretaker of the wrong details.” Don’t hesitate if you want to do or change anything. Go for it!

So don’t let August slip away… I hope you can get out and enjoy it! September is going to be here too soon.

For my dream kitchen. I want an island like the one above.

I like the way Meg decorates… check out the DIY patio dining table. I love it – so simple to make, yet stylish.

While you are looking at details, this space is so well done, but what I like the most is the wallpaper. Look closely… what do you see?

This massive home – sigh, I took it all in and did get a few takeaway ideas that I can actually do in my house. See the portfolio.

As I mentioned earlier in the post, I am planning my decor for Christmas. This sold out last year, I made sure to get it this year.

Everything is coming up roses. A very colorful townhouse tour.

This closet door makeover.

An accent wall so easy to do that looks like expensive wallpaper.

After my success making a new wood top for my kitchen table, I want to make one of these.

Eat & Drink

Ed made this and liked it, which says a lot since he only likes his recipe.

This is such a popular thing in South Carolina. Have you ever made or had it?

Fashion & Beauty

I am trying to use beauty items with less chemicals and that don’t cost a lot. I read about this cleanser a few months ago and bought it. I really like it.

For all jewelry lovers. It is about time someone thought of designing something like this. It also comes in gold tone.

Colored pencil art like you have never seen before!

Reader DIY

I enjoy seeing photos of readers who were inspired to try one of the projects I have posted.

Reader, Lorelei H. sent me these before and after photos of her dining room table she made over following the directions in my post on painting a surface to look like a zinc finish. Doesn’t it look amazing! She did a great job.
